About Us
Premium ingredients, immersive tableside grilling, and heartfelt hospitality, almost a decade in the making on Route 9 in Shrewsbury.
Our Story
BBQ Land celebrates the tradition of modern Asian yakiniku. Every plate is crafted to bring people together, one unforgettable bite at a time.
It started as a plan filed with the Town of Shrewsbury back in 2018: turn a former fast-food lot by Lake Quinsigamond into a place where people sit down, slow down, and cook together. Getting there took almost a decade of planning, permitting, and building.
Our founder, Ning Yu, imagined a Japanese table-grill restaurant: a grill at every table and a menu of high-quality meats you cook yourself, with favorites from Korean and Chinese kitchens alongside. Wagyu next to kimchi. Gyudon next to soondubu. Mango shaved ice to finish.
Now the doors are open, the grills are hot, and we’re just getting started.
Our Motto
Our Philosophy
Three ideas behind every plate that leaves our kitchen.
Our meat comes from Savenor’s, the Cambridge butcher Julia Child trusted for decades, from A5 wagyu to Berkshire pork.
Every table has its own brass-ringed grill. You set the pace: sear the wagyu for seconds, crisp the pork belly, take your time.
Every plate is crafted to bring people together. We’re close by with a tip, a fresh plate, or a refill whenever you need one.
Our Purveyor
Our meat comes from Savenor’s, the historic Cambridge butcher shop famously known as Julia Child’s butcher.
Established in 1939, Savenor’s supplied the meat for Julia’s The French Chef and has been a Boston institution ever since. They still practice whole-animal butchery and supply many of the city’s best kitchens.
We’re proud to partner with them. At a grill table the meat is the meal, and theirs is worth the fire.
